Youth and education
VEF does various things to bring young people along Via Egnatia in contact with eachother and to stimulate knowledge and exchange of common history.
A program of youth-exchange with different countries is in development.
Youth participation-projects in restoration along Via Egnatia are in development in cooperation with the Balkan Heritage Fieldschool (www.bhfieldschool.org)
VEF stimulates the making of historical lesson-material where the accent is on respect and common history. On an international Conference for history-teachers in March 2010 history teachers will discuss this subject. History-teachers from Balkan countries are most welcome to this Conference and to join the workinggroup. See the site of history teachers.
A school in the mountain village of Dardhe, Albania, is financially supported by VEF. The schoolbuilding is badly in need of repair. Various schools in Holland and England are contributing to this goal. You can help us to support Dardhe with your gifts (see Donations) ! Read more about this school in Tom Sawford's report.
VEF participants give lectures on Via Egnatia, its history, its present and its future possibilities. Contact coordinator.
In the future a Via Egnatia Summerschool is planned, where scholars from all involved countries will teach about the history of Via Egnatia and connected subjects.
AS YOU UNDERSTAND: ALL THIS MULTIFACETED WORK COST A LOT OF MONEY. WE CANNOT DO WHAT WE DO WITHOUT FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
IF YOU SYMPATHIZE WITH OUR GOALS: BECOME A FRIEND OF VEF AND DONATE!
